While I love seeing the new makeup looks and trends each season, I’ll be honest… Sometimes I think, when am I ever going to try something like that? Well other than Halloween? So when I saw some of the Spring/Summer 2018 makeup trends I was THRILLED. Minimal makeup plus a pop of color? Count me in.
There are definitely some more “out there” looks this Spring too (like “floating creases”) — after all, makeup is fun to play with — but here are the trends I’m most excited about as a busy mom. All of these are quick and easy, which means I can take a few minutes for myself in the morning before rushing out the door with the kids!
Inner Eye Color
Okay this seems like an “extra” step, but I don’t know about you but I’ll take ANYTHING that makes me look more awake… and adding some “light” to the inner corner of our eye can do just that, whether you’re wearing full eye shadow or not. While past trends typically feature adding a dab of yellow or white eye shadow to the inner corner, the Spring 2018 makeup trend is more about bolder or more unusual colors. My personal preference? Pink! (I use the pink from my blonde brow palette).
Pink Cheeks
While heavy contouring isn’t quite in as it used to be, cheekbones are always in. And right now, flushed cheeks are a thing. So either rock your naturally rosy pink cheeks, or give your skin some help by adding a bit of bronzer and blush. This video shows how I achieve an awesome cheekbone (seriously, I get compliments on my “cheekbones!”) and the right way to wear blush so that it doesn’t look muddled. (An alternative: sculpting stick – it makes highlighting/contouring easy peasy. Promise!)
Purple Eyeshadow
Purple is THE color of the season. Which is awesome for me because it’s absolutely one of my favorite colors to wear, day and night. You can go subtle, or go shimmer, and either way it only takes a minute or two to do. And no matter what your eye color, you can pull it off. Here is one way to wear purple.
Long Lashes and Bold Lips
Ok, so I might veer off of this Spring 2018 makeup trend and say, heck no to spidery lashes. I don’t like my lashes to clump, thank you very much. But I will always get behind long lashes, and bold lips, which is a trend again this season. It also makes for the perfect quick look! (Watch a video on ombre lips made easy; thanks Younique).
